Anne Rutherford

Lifting hearts with live, original stories

Anne writes and adapts original and vintage tales (including Northwest folklore) for vivid live performance. “As soon as you start talking, I get a picture in my mind,” said a participant in one of Anne’s recent residencies. Audiences are engaged and refreshed by her warm, quick-witted style, spiced with music and improv.

A regional storyteller performing at libraries, school assemblies and festivals throughout the Northwest. Anne’s flexible programs work in large or small-scale settings. Anne is a teaching artist in the schools with Young Audiences of Oregon & SW Washington, and leads storytelling workshops for teens and adults. She also performs for older audiences in senior settings, including those for people with memory loss.

Anne is a member of the Portland Storytellers Guild, the National Storytelling Network and the National Speakers Association Fast-Track Program. Based in Portland, Oregon, she is happy to travel to share good stories.
