Storyteller, actress, teacher,
and trainer, Jill Johnson shares traditional tales
from around the world, historical tales of men and
women, ghosts, heroes, and scoundrels famous, infamous
and unknown, original tales about growing
up, traditions and family, cross-cultural experiences, friendships,
and the beauty of the wild.
The core of my storytelling comes from teaching and
training in Africa, Southeast Asia, the South Pacific,
and here at home. I love watching a story build a sense
of community: in a classroom, a library, a meeting, a theater
wherever!
Her one woman show, Little, But OH My! depicts
the life of Berte Olson, the first woman to skipper a ferry
boat on Puget Sound. A recording of the show, which has
toured all over Washington State, won an Honors
designation in the 2006 national Storytelling World competition.
Jill has performed and given workshops in Washington, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and overseas. She has been a featured
performer with Humanities Washington and toured in Africa,
performing and giving workshops in Cameroon and South Africa.
