Farida Dowler shares folktales that appeal to all ages. She plays guitar to accompany traditional and original songs for toddlers and preschool children along with their caregivers. She is trained as a children's librarian and started her career with The New York Public Library. The stories Farida tells are often humorous accounts of how characters with determination and generosity of spirit end up doing well for themselves. Her folksongs invite participation among audience members: "Jenny Jenkins" and "Hop Up Ladies" are recurring favorites. Farida is available to perform at children's birthday parties, library programs, storytelling festivals and other venues.
